You have questions…..we have answers.  From our knowledge of research based strategies and our extensive work with the struggling reader, we have techniques that work.  And we can share this knowledge to enrich classroom instruction.  
 
Choose from our list of Brown Bag classes and create your own combination to fit your needs.  Sessions are available at our locations or yours.   All you need is a 90 minute time slot ….
 
Engaging Games for Struggling Readers
In this class, participants will have the opportunity to participate in games targeting word level reading skills appropriate for the whole classroom and small groups.
 
RAPS Intervention for Small Groups
Participants will learn strategies and techniques that will help them address instruction in RAPS Interventions for small groups.  
(Prerequisite:  RAPS Intervention Training)
 
Focusing on Phonemes
During this 90 minute session, participants will learn to discriminate and properly articulate the 40 – 44 speech sounds of the English language.
 
Segmenting and Blending Phonemes
During this 90 minute session, participants will learn a structured procedure called chaining which involves the deliberate segmenting and blending of phonemes designed to strengthen phonemic awareness skills.
 
Making Sense of Nonsense Words
During this 90 minute session, participants will learn about the research supporting the use of pseudo words for both assessment and instruction.
 
So What about the Schwa?
During this 90 minute session, participants will explore where and when the schwa sound occurs in words and the implications for reading and spelling.  Techniques to teach this concept will be presented.
