What You’re Supporting — Volunteer Services
Elementary Intervention Program / Kindergarten Intervention Program:
Funding from our supporters for our Volunteer Tutor and Kindergarten Intervention Programs cover the costs of the following activities that are critical to the success of our students and the overall effectiveness of the programs, which are offered to partner schools at no cost to tutors, families, schools or school districts:
• Statewide volunteer recruitment
• Volunteer training in a 36-hour intensive training course.
• Tutoring of children at risk for reading failure 3-4 times per week.
• Mentoring of each tutor as they work with children through the program in
order to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the program.

• Annual continuing education for all tutors
• All instructional and tutoring manuals and materials.
• Testing of each child at least three times per year (pre-test, progress
monitoring, post-test). Most children receive more progress monitoring
